Angel of the Month

Author of Angels of Paris - An Architectural Tour through the History of Paris

On Valentine’s Day, lovers often offer a gift of sweets to their cherished one - usually a box of chocolates, but today, the rage is all for macarons. On a gilded, painted advertisement from the 1920’s, a duo of cupid-like angels hail down heavenly chocolate and vanilla macarons from a golden cornucopia. Still reigning over a bakery today, the facade with its delightful sign was given landmark status in 1984.  Maison Keyser, 14 rue Monge, Paris in the 5th arrondissement  (métro: Maubert-Mutualité).
