Angel of the Month

Strumming a mandolin, curly locks tumbling about his smiling face, this exquisite angel engraved in stone welcomes visitors to the Auberge Nicolas Flamel. Founded in 1407 by Nicolas Flamel, juror, bookshop owner, creator of illuminated manuscripts, philanthropist and sometimes alchemist, he offered free lodging and meals to seasonal laborers who came to till the nearby fields in exchange for their prayers for the souls of the departed. Today, the auberge is a charming, wood-beamed restaurant whose entrance is graced by the mandolin angel and three other musician angels.
