Angel of the Month

Just off the autoroute encircling Paris stands an immense modern church with a rose-ochre façade alive with sculptress Anne-Marie Roux-Cola’s orchestra of angels.  Playing instruments from medieval to modern, they honor Saint Odile, the patron saint of Alsace-Lorraine.  Here a young boy angel violinist, there another on bass; an earnest young fellow strums his guitar, while his companion is ready with a triangle, and a young flautist picks up the tune. Mosaicist Auguste Labouret’s blue-glass cabochons punctuate the scene.
