Entrée to Black Paris

Academic Partnerships - Universities and Educational Travel Companies

Entrée to Black Paris partners with universities, colleges, and educational travel companies to design and deliver academically grounded engagements with Black Paris. Our offerings range from consulting support for new or revised Paris programs to on-site experiences and integrated virtual components that deepen student preparation, engagement, and reflection.

Whether you are designing a program from the ground up, enriching an existing Paris itinerary, or looking for a more intentional way to connect students to the city, we offer several ways to make Black Paris a meaningful part of the learning experience.

How We Work With Academic Partners

Entrée to Black Paris supports faculty, program leaders, and educational travel planners in three main ways:

  • Program design consulting
Collaborate to create or revise Paris programs that meaningfully integrate Black Paris into syllabi, itineraries, and learning outcomes.

  • On-site experiences in Paris
Lead students through carefully curated routes that center Black writers, artists, intellectuals, and political figures in the city.

  • Integrated virtual components
Provide pre‑departure orientation and post‑program debriefs that frame the on‑site experience and extend its impact.

We can work with you at any point in the life cycle of a program: at the concept stage, with an existing itinerary, or when you want to deepen the academic dimension of a single site visit.

Faculty Partner – Program Design Packages

These offers are designed for faculty, counselors, program directors, and educational travel companies who want structured support in creating or substantially revising a Paris program that centers or significantly includes Black Paris.

Program Design Package (Core)

This package supports the creation of a clear, coherent Paris program concept that can be brought to departments, study abroad offices, and institutional decision‑makers.

It includes:

  • Program Vision & Scope Session (60–90 minutes)
Clarifies academic focus, student profile, likely dates, institutional parameters, and desired learning outcomes.

  • Written Program Outline (“Program Skeleton”)
A high‑level outline (for example, 7–10 days) that identifies core themes and daily focus, suggests a balance of academic sessions, Black Paris experiences, and broader Paris activities, and introduces initial ideas for readings and reflection prompts.

  • Review & Refinement Session (60–90 minutes)
A second live session to walk through the draft, refine it based on institutional needs, and identify next steps for implementation.

  • Follow‑up Recommendations
Delivery of the revised outline and key recommendations by email.

This package is ideal for institutions and educational travel providers designing a Paris program for the first time or reshaping an existing program to better reflect Black Paris and the African diaspora.

Program Design Package (Expanded)

The expanded option includes everything in the core package, plus written frameworks that faculty and program leaders can use directly with students.

It includes:

  • Pre‑departure Orientation Framework (Written)
A structured outline for preparing students before travel, including key themes, discussion prompts, and suggested resources.

  • Post‑travel Debrief Framework (Written)
A guided structure for helping students synthesize the academic and cultural dimensions of their time in Paris and link them back to course work.

This package is well‑suited to programs that want not only a clear program concept, but also ready‑to‑use pedagogical tools to support student learning before and after the Paris component.

Program Design Packages are offered as consulting engagements; sample pricing is available upon request once there is a clear sense of your program’s scope and needs.

On‑Site Academic Experiences in Paris

Entrée to Black Paris Immersion Days

Immersion Days are high‑engagement, on‑the‑ground experiences for academic groups that devotes approximately 5.5 to 6 hours to Black Paris. Students move through multiple neighborhoods and sites connected to Black writers, artists, and intellectuals, with time built in for questions, discussion, and guided reflection along the way.

Designed for programs that want Black Paris to be a central focus rather than a single stop, Immersion Days weave together walking segments, contextual discussion, and structured reflection moments. The pacing allows students to encounter a range of places and narratives—literary, artistic, political, and intellectual—while continually linking what they see in the city to themes from their coursework and to broader questions of race, place, and memory.

Standard Academic Walking Tours

Entrée to Black Paris also offers 2‑hour academic walking tours that introduce students to key sites and figures in Black Paris. These tours can be booked on their own or combined with virtual components as part of an integrated package. They work well as:

  • A focused module within a broader Paris program

  • An anchor activity for a short‑term course

  • A structured complement to independent student exploration

Integrated Tour + Virtual Packages

These offerings are built around the standard academic tour format and are designed to extend the educational value of a single on‑site experience.

Enriched Black Paris Experience

The Enriched Black Paris Experience transforms one ETBP academic tour into a more complete learning sequence for students. It combines:

  • A 2‑hour in‑person ETBP academic walking tour in Paris

  • A pre‑departure online orientation (approximately 60–75 minutes)

  • A post‑tour virtual debrief (approximately 60–75 minutes)

This package helps students arrive with historical and cultural context, engage more thoughtfully on site, and reflect more intentionally afterward. It is particularly suited to programs that cannot dedicate 5.5–6 hours on site, but still want an integrated learning arc that links the tour to course themes and learning outcomes.

Additional Faculty Partner Enrichment Options

Beyond the defined packages indicated above, Entrée to Black Paris can work with universities and educational travel companies to tailor:

  • Enrichment combinations
For example, one in‑person tour plus a single virtual student session and a faculty consultation for course or itinerary refinement.

  • Black Paris “Deep Dive” formats
One in‑person tour paired with two virtual sessions that frame Black Paris within a specific disciplinary context (for example, Black studies, history, literature, or art history).

Pricing for customized packages depends on group size, number of sessions, and academic requirements.
