Angel of the Month

"Sheltering in Place" Angels
Photograph by Rosemary Flannery
Author of Angels of Paris - An Architectural Tour through the History of Paris

For this month's angel, Rosemary writes:

In France, "sheltering in place" is called le confinement, and I am blessed to be spending this time in the lovely home of friends in the countryside just outside of Toulouse. As churches are closed and travel is restricted, I was very fortunate to find this month’s angels illustrated on an 18th-century French print hanging in the salon. Sliding down a waterfall, offering drink from a silver goblet to a couple of thirsty lovers, these delightful angels reflect the insouciant spirit of Rococo art, melding romantic figures and cherubs in an atmospheric, bucolic setting.
