Every time we dine at Le Buisson Ardent we always leave with smiles of satisfaction.  We returned there just recently and found that the food and service were as good as we remembered.

Angel of the Month

Photograph by Rosemary Flannery
Author of Angels of Paris - An Architectural Tour through the History of Paris

In the winter, even angels get cold!  On the Fontaine des Quatre Saisons (Four Seasons Fountain),  Edme Bouchardon, sculptor to Louis XV, created four gorgeous young angels, each set in a niche and representing a season.  Winter’s angel pulls his cloak tightly around him; at his feet a goat symbolizing Capricorn and the shivery months of December and January.  The luminous stone is called 'pierre de tonnerre' or ‘thunderstone’; it is believed that it was formed from lightening hitting the soil in the Champagne region.

Fontaine des Quatre Saisons, 57 - 59 rue de Grenelle, 7th arrondissement, (Metro: Rue du Bac)
