July 2006 - Three Ladies and a Flame

In July, two significant national holidays are celebrated – the United States’ Independence Day and France’s Fête Nationale. The month is an appropriate occasion, then, to recall the Statue of Liberty, designed by French sculptor August Bartholdi. It is a symbol that represents enduring friendship between these two nations. In Paris, many renditions of Lady Liberty stand to remind passersby of the ideal of liberty and Franco-American friendship. We hope that this article will inspire readers to seek out each one!
