February 2006 - Place Vendôme - A Square Fit for a King

Place VendomeParis - a city of parks, gardens, squares and places. Of the 23 or so historic places that embellish the city, five were built to venerate a king (or in the case of Place Dauphine, a king's son) who ruled France at the time of the square's construction. Place de la Concorde, for example, was built to honor Louis XV. And Place Vendôme was built to honor his great grandfather, Louis XIV.

In this month's newsletter we explore this majestic square.
