Café Tournon, long associated with the presence of African-American writers in postwar Paris, serves as a point of reflection here.

Entrée to Black Paris is pleased to introduce two new ways to engage with the history and contemporary presence of Black communities in Paris.

Together, they create new points of entry into the work of Entrée to Black Paris—whether through reading, walking, or a combination of both.

Exploring Black Paris: A Short Guide to the Left Bank

The Exploring Black Paris guide is now available.

This publication offers a structured introduction to Black Paris through one of the city's most historically rich areas, bringing together key figures, sites, and contemporary perspectives in a format designed for both reading and exploration.

Grounded in a carefully considered route through the Latin Quarter and the 6th arrondissement, the guide situates places such as streets, cafés, and institutions within a broader intellectual and cultural history—inviting readers to see the city through a different lens.

It is designed for those who wish to engage Black Paris at their own pace, or to establish a foundation before a more in-depth experience.

Entrée to Black Paris: An Introduction

In addition, Entrée to Black Paris: An Introduction is now offered as a weekly open tour.

This 90-minute, small-group experience provides a guided introduction to Black Paris through the Left Bank, combining historical context, connections between history and place, and space for reflection. Moving along a thoughtfully selected route, participants encounter sites connected to writers, artists, and intellectuals whose lives intersected with this part of the city.

The tour concludes at Café Tournon, a postwar gathering place for African-American writers, with a moment to reflect on the histories encountered along the way.
