Black History in and around the Luxembourg Garden

Explore the Luxembourg Garden and the surrounding area to learn about the histories of such luminaries as Richard Wright, Chester Himes, Alexandre Dumas, and Josephine Baker. See the contemporary sculpture that commemorates the abolition of slavery in the French colonies.

The walk is in English.
(La visite se fait en anglais.)

This tour, which involves about 90 minutes of walking and standing, proceeds at a moderate pace.  A roughly 15-minute narrative is made at each stop.
Each stop requires standing, but, if weather permits, sitting is possible at some of the stops.

Participants should be able to walk the full length of the tour at a moderate pace without having to sit down to rest.

The walking tour takes place rain or shine.  Be sure to dress appropriately for weather conditions on the day of your walk.

Please make arrangements to arrive on time. We do not wait for latecomers.
Note that due to traffic conditions, transit by taxi or Uber is NOT a reliable method for getting to the starting point on time.

The tour is led by Tom Reeves, co-founder of Entrée to Black Paris.
